Summary Of “Farewell To Manzanar”

According the story of Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki, the story begins with the U.S. admittance into World War II after the Japanese bump on Pearl Harbor in 1942, three past period after war had begun raging in Europe. Jeanne Wakatsuki’s father, whom she calls Papa, was decompose of the first group of Japanese people who immigrated to the touch base States, Hawaii, Latin America, and Europe, who were called Issei. Jeanne and her family was affected by the consequence of this even. Her father was arrested as grass and the rest of the family was coordinateed to move to the cantonmentground in Manzanar, set center in the desert 225 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Jeanne and her family life history in the Manzanar were very bad. The shelters were very unprepared, not enough viands and cordially clothing. Manzanar became the scummy town. Schools were opened along with a hospital and stores. In celestial latitude 1944, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that the Manzanar camp was illegal. So the camp would be closed. People started moving out. On August 6, 1945, the United States drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, shutting the war. Two months later, Wakatsuki family moved out from the camp to Long beach. Jeanne went spine to school to take in the education. Finally they moved to San Jose and settled down their life there. In April 1972, Jeanne came back to visit the camp in Manzanar with her husban d and her daughter. She reminded herself bac! k to the life in the camp.
